a proti acid is one which can ionise in solution to produse proton or hydronium ion...it is not protic acis since it does not ionise in h2o to give a proton.
Boric acid is not a protic acid.It accepts a pair of electron from OH- ion of water and acts as a lewis acid

When boric acid react with water..As boron contain one vacant orbital so it gain oH- ion from water and thus behave as a Lewis acid

The concept of protonic acid was given by both Arrhenius and Bronsted. According to their theories , a protonic acid is a species which donate a proton i.e. H+ . But boric acid do not donate H+ rather it accepts an electron pair from the solution or the donor i.e. an OH-.

Dear student,
Please find the attached solution to your problem.

The property of a protic acid is that it produces proton or hydronium ion in its solution by releasing a proton from its own.
However, Boric acid is not a protic acid. Because, it accepts a pair of electron from OH- ion of water and acts as a lewis acid and does not produce hydronium ion or proton on its own.
B(OH)3 + 2H2O → [B(OH)4]- + H3O+

Hope it helps.
Thanks and regards,
Kushagra
