Iron changes its crystal structure from body centred to cubic close packed structure when heated to 916°C. Calculate the ratio of the density of the BCC crystal to that of CCP crystal. Assume that the metallic radius of the atom does not change.

For BCC
Z=2
For CCP
Z=4
So,the ratio of BCC toCCP will be
D of BCC= 2*m/a^3*No
D of CCP=4*m/a^3*No
BCC:CCP=1:2
