Dear Shelly
the probability (P) is composed of two factors: the probability density (squared ψ) and length of the region (Δx). Thus, it is nonsense to say “probability at point x“ since its value would be 0 because Δx=0; it is correct to say “probability in a region between x and x+Δx”. Extending to 3D world, the probability of finding electron in a null volume is 0, irrespective of probability density. Hence, three-dimensional region must be delimited before any calculation.
Back to the one-dimensional case, if node is located at x, ψ(x)=0 and its square too; it means the probability density is 0 exactly at that point. However, there are infinite points between x and x+Δx and all them but x have non-null probability density (this is true, considering that node occur at x=0, ψ is a continuous function and Δx is small). Thus, calculating the probability of finding electron in this small region near the node hence one can find very small probabiity.
