yes you can,clean the surface of coin to be elctroplated and connect it to the negative terminal of battery(cathode) 
connect the positive terminal to copper sheet (anode) dip both the electrodes to acidified copper sulphate solution .copper ions from the elctrolyte gain two electrons from your coin and deposit on the coin as copper molecule , this is the same principle used in electrolytic refining
