Use Reagent Red Phosphorus + HI.
This is a strongest reducing agent which has tendency to reduce all organic compounds to corresponding alkane except ‘N’ conating o.c
Therefore,
C – C – C – X ------------>(Red p. +HI) ----------->  C-C-C
simlarly for butane too it would work.
