Let the number of atoms in the sample be ‘x’.
 
Therefore, the total mass of the sample = 4x, which is equal to 24 a.m.u.
⇒ 4x = 24
⇒ x = 6
 
Hence, there are 6 He atoms in the sample.

Physical properties are those properties which can be measured or observed without changing the identity or the composition of the substance whereas the measurement of chemical properties require a chemical change to occur e.g. colour, odour etc are physical properties and combustion, basicity etc are chemical properties.
