For the reaction PCl5  PCl3+ Cl2 the degree of dissociation varies inversely as the square root of presSure of the System. Supposing at constant temperature If the volume is increased 16 times the intial volume, the degree of dissociation for this reaction will becomes

As degree of dissociation varies inversely as the square root of presSure of the System,a = k/root(P)
From PV =nRT
PRESSURE is inversely proprtional to the Volume,
Thereofre,  P = k/V
or
a = k/root(k/V)
a = root(k*V)
Now the volume becomes 16 times,
Hence,
a = root(k*16V) => 4*root(kV)
Hecne it beccomes the 4 times root(of Volume.)
