For the given eqn. 
             A           +                      B      ------------->                 C           +              D
t=0       a                                     a
t=teq.   a-x                               a-x                                       x                            x
Keq. = 9 = (x/(a-x))^2
 
 
3a – 3x = x
x = 3a/4 => 0.75a
Hence C option suits better.
