Equivalent weight of H3PO2(molecular weight =m ) when it disproportionates into PH3 and H3PO3

P +1 dissproportionates to P -3 and P +3
 
so n factor is calculate by n1 * n2 / n1 + n2 i.e. n1 = 1 – (-3) = 4 and n2 = 3 – 1 = 2 
therefore n = 4/ 3 , 
hence, Equivalent wt is 3m/4.
 
change in oxdiation is calculate by , Larger no. minus smaller no.
