Dear Student,

Paramagnetism arises due to the presence of unpaired electrons. Each electron have magnetic moment due to its spin angular momentum and orbital angular momentum. However, in the first transition series , the orbital angular momentum is not seen. So, the resulting paramgnetism is only due to the unpaired electrons ( spin angular momentum ).
