HgI2 forms a complex with KI and therefore number of particles in the solution decreases.HgI2 + 2KI → K2[HgI4] Vapour pressure is a colligative property, decrease in number of solute particles will increase the vapour pressure. Therefore it will show increase in vapour pressure not decrease.

Dear Student,
Please find below the solution to your problem.

KI forms a complex with HgI2.
2KI+HgI2⟶K2HgI4
Therefore, the number of particles in solution decreases resulting in the decrease in relative lowering of vapour pressure. Hence, vapour pressure increases.

Thanks and Regards
