a vessel contains equal volumes of SO2 and CH4. through a small hole, the gases effused into vacuum. After 200 sec, the total volume is reduced to half. what is the ratio of so2 and ch4 remaining in the vessel? 1)1:2 2) 2:1 3) 1:1 4) 1:4

r1\r2=√m1 \m2 =√16\64 = 1\2
r1 \r2 =v1 \t1 × t2 \v2
v1 \v2 = r1 \r2 = 1\2 (t1 =t2)
Out of three parts of the gas, 1part of so2 diffuses and 2parts of ch4 diffuses. So, the ratio left in the vessel is 2parts of so2 and 1 part of ch4. Thus the ratio of so2:ch4 is
2:1
