Sol. HCI will diffuse at slower rate than ammonia because rate of effusion ∝ 1/√M Therefore, ammonia will travel more distance than HCI in the same time interval and the two gas will first meet nearer to HCI end.

HCL diffuse slower than NH3 beacuse mass of HCL is more than mass of NH3 ie rate of diffusion is inverse to mass
