based on quantum mechanics the maxmum number of electrons present in an atom in which the highest quantum number is given by the formula 2n^2 .here n denotes principal quantum number
 
and by spin, half of the electrons will have clockwise spin (+1/2) and remaining half has anticlockwise spin (-1/2)
