As activation energy is the minimum amount of energy required by a molecule to reach the threshold energy.

ao ACTIVATION ENERGY= THRESHOLD ENERGY- ENEGY POSSESSED BY THE MOLECULE.

So as a result when activation energy is increased then some molecules becoms inactive because they exceed their threshold enegy hich results in the loss of energy due to thermal agitation, which results in the lowering of rate of reacton .
