These are the elements which have incomplete d-subshell.

these are elements in the d-block of the periodic table, which includes groups 3 to 12 on the periodic table,including f-block also i.e lanthanides and actinides.

Transition elements are those elements which have incompletely filled d-orbitals in the ground state or in anyone of their oxidation state.for example copper silver gold transition metals because in their commonly oxidation states they have incompletely filled d-subshell.

the elements which are of d block are called transition elements. they show variable valency.
