2 KMnO4+ 5 H2SO4 → K2SO4 + 2 lvInSO4 + 2 H2SO4 + 3 H2O From above equation it is clear that 2 moles of KMnO4 react with 5 moles of sulphite ion in acidic solution. Thus, 2/5 moles of KMnO4 will react with 1 mole of sulphite ion.
