can u help me know that with which compunds we use ata, ite, idelike sulphate'''''''''''''''''''''
what is general criteria to use ate, ide, ite at the end of compund name plzzzz let me know that
thanks
Hi Jauneet,
Let us consider the example:
Na2SO4 and Na2SO3
sodium sulpate and sodium sulphite
there is no particular number or oxidation state for which we name them as -ate -ite -ous
but -ate>-ite>-ous is the order according to the Number of oxigens attached to the element(in above example element is S)
-ide is used when there is no O
Na2S.... sodium sulphide.
