the total no of atoms in hcp is 6.

the volume of the unit cell=6x(1.723/4)(2r)2x4r(1.414/1.723).

volume covered by the 6 atoms =6(4/3)xpixr3.

packing fraction=(volume covered by the atoms)/(volume of the unit cell)

                      =0.74(approx).
