Dear Student ,

let out  of 0.93, Fe3+=x and Fe2+=.93-x

then using charge balance..

3*x+2*(0.93-x)=2*1

( 1 for oxygen)

x=.14

% of Fe3+=(.14/.93)*100=15%

All the best K.Mohammed

We have to find Fe3+% in the compound not in individual Fe component of the compound.
Let 1mole of Fe0.93O
Moles of Fe=0.93
Moles of O= 1
Let Moles of Fe3+=a
And Moles of Fe2+=0.93-a
Charge on whole compound(i.e in 1 mole)=
a×(+3)×Ń+0.93-a(+2)×Ń+1×(-2)×Ń=0
a=0.14
%Fe3+ inFe0.93O=Weight of (Fe3+)÷Total weight of compound ×100
=        0.14×56
   ------------------------  ×100  = 11.515
   0.93×56+16×1

Hello K Mohmmed,
The solution of above problem is as follows
let out of 0.93, Fe3+=x and Fe2+=.93-x
then using charge balance..
3*x+2*(0.93-x)=2*1( 1 for oxygen)
x=.14
% of Fe3+=(.14/.93)*100=15%
Thanks
I hope above solution will clear your all doubts.
Please feel free to post and ask as much doubts as possible.
All the best.
