3.From carboxylic acids:-Sodium salt of carboxylic acids on heating with soda lime(mixture of NaOH + CaO) gives alkanes containing 1C atom less than the acid.CO2 removes form acid so process is called decarboxylation.
CH3COONa + soda lime --------------> CH4 + Na2CO3
