Lipidcan have polar hydroxyl groups but only as part ofa molecule with overall non-polar character. Usually due to some large hydrocarbon chain.
Glycerol has a polar hydroxyl group for every carbon atom and is reasonably soluble in water.

Glycerol is not a lipid. It is a simple alcohol.

Oils, Waxes and Cholesterol are lipids.
