d orbit resonance is notihng other than d-d transition. It is shown by the d block elements which has more than vacant d orbit. Suppose Ti+2 ion. It has two lone pair in its 2 d orbit and the other 3 is vacant. So these 2 electron will resonate in this vacant orbit simultaniously. And leads to a colour compound.
