Water is more acidic than methanol because methanol is a basic and water can be considered as neutral. So, in the ph scale water is more reactive than methanol.
methanol is the simplest form of alcohol and alcohol is base. But methanol is too toxic and poisonous and can cause blindness, coma as well as death to humans. but it can be taken at a vey very very very very small amount.

Methanol is more acidic than water
pKof methanol = 15.54
pKa of water = 15.74
you know lesser pKa means more acidic ,
methanol is more acidic than water ;

water is more acidic because in water molecule there is no alkyl group . alkyl group is electron donating group which decreases the acidity of methanol

no...
methanol is more acidic than water !!!
(it is the only exception of alcohol being more acidic than water....generally water is more acidic than alcohols )

Ethoxide ion is a stronger base than hydroxide ion. Thus ethanol is a weaker acid than water. It is true for all alcohols except methanol, which is slightly more acidic than water. Comparing methoxide and hydroxide ions, O is attached to a CH3 group in one and H in the other.
