Triphenyl carbocation is a more stable carbocation than trimethyl carbocation.This is due to -I effect in methyl groups which is absent in phenyl.

Triphenyl carbocation is stabilized through resonance. The positive charge is delocalized among all three phenyl groups.
The trimethyl cation is stabilized through Hyperconjugation of 9 Hydrogens and +I effect . This gives lower stabilization compared to the delocalization of positive charge in triphenyl carbocation. 
Hence triphenyl carbocation is more stabler than trimethyl carbocation.
