Polymerization is reffered to as the chemical reaction that makes polymers. These reactions are of several types but the one thing which is common to all is that they all started with small molecules which join to form giant molecules.
Addition poymerization reaction involves three types of reaction intermediates among which free radical is one of them.Such addition polymerization are one of the important types of polymerization which are initiated by free radical which are electrically neutral species with an unshaired electron. These reactions takes place in presence of organic peroxides. The effectof peroxide is that free radical are actually generated by them due to their photo or thermal decomposition.Later these generated free radicals initiated the addition polymerization. Thus we can say that in presence of peroxides the free radicals are produced or generated which are responsible for initiating the polymerization reaction.
