If O and N atoms are adjacent to the carbocation  then the lone pair present on oxygen and nitrogen atom are involved in resonance and increase stability of the carbocation. If we have two compound one have O and one have N atom then N increase stability of the carbocation due to less electronegativity so that it's lone pair easily takes part in resonance.
