Charge and energy are two different properties of particles (or systems of particles). Objects that have charge interact with the electromagnetic field, and experience the electromagnetic force. Not all objects have charge, but all objects have energy. I think it helps to conceptualize what energy is through an analogy: energy is to time what momentum is to space. You're probably familiar with momentum in a Euclidean space -- momentum is a 3-component vector, [px, py, pz]. In relativity however, the background spacetime is a 3+1-dimensional space, and the equivalent of momentum is called the four-momentum, and is a 4-component vector, so to describe the momentum of a particle we need an additional scalar component: in this case, the energy of the particle (along with a conversion factor of c or c2 depending on conventions) plays the role of the four-momentum's time-axis component.

Each of these quantities are independently conserved, as well as the whole vector being conserved. Electric charge also is conserved. Both of these quantities are also variables in the equations of motion for objects, and because they are conserved, they provide constraints on the equations of motion and are involved in describing objects' motion. One way in that they are different is that the momentum, four-momentum, and energy are all kinematic variables, needed to describe all kinds of motion including inertial motion, accelerated motion, etc. However, charge is a dynamic variable, needed only to describe accelerated motion due to a specific applied force: the electromagnetic force. Another way to think about this is that momentum and energy are properties related to spacetime, while charge is a property related to the electromagnetic field, which is an additional structure "on top of" spacetime that affects the dynamics of objects in spacetime.
