resonance is a way of describing bonding in certain molecules or ions by the combination of several contributing structures (or forms, also variously known as resonance structures or canonical structures) into a resonance hybrid (or hybrid structure) in valence bond theory.

Resonance is a theory which was introduced to explain the disparancies in benzene. It basically deals with energy level considerations of the compound and tries to achieve the lowest posiible energy. On 2-D representation we will try to guess the electron moement of the compoud and give various structures. Thesa are called canonical structures. It is important to knw that the compound in its actuall state will not exis as a hybrid of the canonical forms.Resonance is a theory which was introduced to explain the disparancies in benzene. It basically deals with energy level considerations of the compound and tries to achieve the lowest posiible energy. On 2-D representation we will try to guess the electron moement of the compoud and give various structures.
