Take a small amount of organic compound in a test tube and add ethyl alcohol and make a saturated solution by shaking vigorously. To this solution add saturated solution of 2:4 DNP and again shake vigorously for 5 minutes.After that the yellow or orange ppt will be obtained.This process is called 2:4 DNP test.
