Hello Student
When phenol treated with chloroform in the presence of aqueous sodium hydroxide(base) at 340 K temperature followed by hydrolysis yields 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde also called as salicylaldehyde and reaction called as Reimer-Tiemann reaction.
