Hii

I am enlisting the basic difference between diamond and graphite .
*Diamond is the hardest mineral known to man, Graphite is one of the softest.
* Diamond is an excellent electrical insulator, Graphite is a good conductor of electricity.
* Diamond is the ultimate abrasive, Graphite is a very good lubricant.
* Diamond is usually transparent, Graphite is opaque.
* Diamond crystallizes in the Isometric system and graphite crystallizes in the hexagonal system.

graphite is soft and good conductor of electricity.but diamond is hard and bad conductor of electricity. both are allotropes of carbon. Both diamond and graphite are made entirely out of carbon, as is the more recently discovered buckminsterfullerene (a discrete soccer-ball-shaped molecule containing carbon 60 atoms). The way the carbon atoms are arranged in space, however, is different for the three materials, making them allotropes of carbon.

would be that since Diamonds have a three dimensional network of strong covalent bonds, which makes it hard, but Graphite on the other hand has flat layers of carbon atoms held by weak van der Waal's forces which makes Graphite a weak object and easily breakable ( What is the differences in physical
