amino acids are the besic building blocks of proteins and they are linking together with the help of polypeptide chain to form the proteins . 
the statistical formula to calculate the no of tripeptides formed from 20 amino acids are – 
20*20*20 = 8000 tripeptides
when u have given the amino acids number , just cube that , thats the no. of tripeptide chain .
