Ethane + HBr=CH3CH2Br
CH3CH2Br+AgOH=CH3CH2OH
Ethanol +KMnO4/H2SO4=ethanoic acid
ethanoic acid + Ag+ion= CH3COOAg
CH3COOAg+Br2/CCl4(reflux)=CH3Br
CH3Br+HI/RedP=CH4(methane)

Convert ethane to ethanol(heating with o2 in Cu tube)

Then oxidise to make ethanoic acid
Make sodium acetate
Add naoh cao heat to get methane.
What I wrote before was the first step.
