Dear student
Ozonolysis is a method of oxidative cleavage of alkenes or alkynes using ozone (O 3 ) in which the carbon- carbon double or triple bond   has been replaced by a carbon- oxygen double bond . For example,
Ozonolysis of alkenes: Alkenes are oxidised by ozone to ozonides.Ozonides are unstable compounds. They are      further reduced with zinc and water ( Zn/H2O) or with hydrogen in the presence of palladium (H2/Pd). The products  are aldehydes or ketones resulting from the cleavage of the carbon-carbon double bond. The overall ozonolysis.
