On decreasing the internuclear distance below the optimum distance (where potential energy is minimum) there is a steep increase in potential energy of a molecule due toA) Increase in force of attraction between electrons and nuclei
B) Increase in stability of the bonded atoms

Answer:

As on decreasing internuclear distance due to these electrons comes closer to each other and also nucleus to nucleus closer so repulsion between both of them increases. The same charge will always repel each other

so the answer is to increase in interelectronic and internuclear repulsion
