OCh3 is attached to aniline at ortho and para positions....which of the two is more basic? And why? OCh3 is attached to aniline at ortho and para positions....which of the two is more basic? And why?
OCH3 group is e- releasing group and thus increases the basicity of aniline ,but between the o & p isomer p will be more basic. The reason is that even e- releasing group decreases the basicity when it is at o position and this is due to ortho effect. Thanks & regardsAarti Guptaaskiitians Faculty
