In General

When the molecule consists of alkyl groups alone, the double and triple bonds take priority in numbering. When a functional group is added, such as -OH in alcohols, the carbon attached to the -OH takes priority and is numbered as the first carbon. This is due to the idea that the alcohol functional group contributes more to the unique geometry and likelihood of specific reactions than the triple and double bonds do. Functional groups, as a general rule, contribute more to the molecule's unique structure than double and triple bonds, so they take priority in numbering.
