No,but it woukd be bad if you use the compounds having free -OH groups as dehydration would takes place.
And just after chloination takes place.
In this case U need to maintain the protection of the -OH groups mainting the catalyst conc. equal stable.

No.these reactions are for conversion of carbonyl compounds like aldehydes or ketones....to alkanes.so double bond is not affected.
