Inductive effect
Order of the power of -I groups?
This is the order my sir gave and I found the same online:
NH3+ > NO2 > CN > SO3H > CHO > CO > COOH > COCl > CONH2 > F > Cl > Br > I > OH > OR > NH2 > C6H5 > H

But OP Tandon shows COCl > CHO > CO

Which one is correct? Help? Thanks in advanced.

First one!
Acid chloride cannot have more -I effect than aldehyde and ketone.
as Inductive effect is the distance dependent and to shows -I effect chlorine charge has to cover a distance which is more than in aaldehyde and keto group .

NR3 will come first then NHR2 then SR2 And then NH3 all with a unipositive chrge...... Then comes NO2>-C[triplebond]N>aldehyde>ketone>carboxylic acid>f>cl>Br>I>CX3>Phenoxide ion>-OR>-OH>-NH2>Phenyl>Acetylene>Ethylene>H

OP Tandon is not a good book for organic chemistry you should follow LG Wade. First order is correct which is given by your teacher
