If we react metanitrobenzoic acid with LiAlH4, does it reduces NO2 also or does only selective reduction of COOH? If it does selective reduction, then why so....and if it does not...then what happens to the nitro group and how do we convert benzoic acid to metanitrobenzyl alcohol?

To convert benzoic acid to metanitrobenzyl alcohol
first do Nitration with conc. HNO3 and H2SO4 and then after use Diborane that is B2H6 to convert simply.
Use mild conditions for that remeber.
