How to prepare pentan-2,4-dione from acetoacetic ester???? In the text book it is given that by using 2 molecules of mono sodium acetoacetic ester and iodine we can prepare Hexane-2,5-dione.. but how to make pentan-2,4-dione???? I dont know how to eliminate one methyl group to form pental-2,4-dione???? Plzz reply
