how to distinguish between acetoxy and ester group in phenyl ethanoate and acetoxybenzene. Their structural formulas are exactly same.

Acetoxy would only involve the -OCH3 group and nothing less and nothing more.
wheras for ester there should be a CO group attached with -OCH3 group together.
And prioritize first the ester if ester  is forming forst cinsider it and then if -OCH3 group is found alone somee where gfar from CO group then consider it as acetoxy.
