how many optically active stereoisomers are possible for 2,3 butanediol?

In  2,3 butanediol there are two chiral centers that is to say that two stereocentres and are even.
Therefore, Number of  optically active stereoisomers => 2^(n-1)
for n=2 we get,
=> 2^1 = 2
