nitriles on hydrolysis in acidic medium (H3O+) gives carboxylic acids. Simply remove -CN group and attach -COOH.
primary alcohols in presence of following strong oxidising agents gives carboxylic acids : KMnO4/H+,K2Cr2O7/H+,CrO3/H+,HNO3
any grignard reagent +CO2 in presence of H3O+ gives carboxlic acids with that particular alkyl group in grignard reagent
