Dear Navin

When glucose reacts with HCN

It form addition product cyanohydrin

Glucose  + HCN -----> CN- (CHOH)5 - (CH2OH)

in the structure of glucose cynaide react at the 1 st carbon.thank you.

Glucose is a mono saccharide . It represents the mutarotation. When glucose reacts with HCN it gives Cyanohydrin and makes Heptose after Hydration.
