there are two types of ozonolysis oxidative ozonolysis and reductive ozonolysis

1 oxidative ozonolysis/this test is also given by hot kmno4

if we use the oxidant hydrogen peroxide [H₂O₂], any aldehydes that form will be oxidized to give carboxylic acids.

2 reductive ozonolysis

here in this case glcol would be formed

this takes place in presence of Zn or S(CH₃)₂
