Organic chemistry is based on organic compounds i.e. hydrocarbons.Hydrocarbons are of three types Alkanes ,Alkenes and Alkynes.they have certain formulas:Alkane-CnH2n+2. i.e. If we take n=1 then first alkane is CH4.Alkene-CnH2n i.e. If we take n= 1then first alkene is C2H4.Alkyne-CnH2n-2 i.e. If we take n=1 then first alkyne is C2H2.

dear kunal
kindly go through the askiitians study material once , and let me know in case u have any kind of doubt . organic nomenclature is a vast topic to deal about , so, its not possible to explain all the principle here .
u need to know how carbon bonds and how to select the parent carbon chain for that ,
so, its better to go through the material once and let me know where exactly your doubt arise.
