Can anyone explain weather hydroxide ion and carboxylate ion act as nucleophiles or electrophiles.

Hydroxide ( OH- ) and carboxylate (RCOO-) ions behave as a nucleophile or in other words nucleus loving or positive charge loving .Because both hydroxide ion and carboxylate ion have a negative charge on them thus are attracted towards opposite positive charge .
