Are there any special test for the identification of benzyl alcohol in a organic compound?

 In benzal alcohol CH2OH is attached to the benzene ring which is 1 degree and hence can be detected by Lucas test (anhy. Zncl2 + HCl ).

This test is helpful in the detection of 1, 2,3 degree alcohol in which the turbidity is formed immediately in case of 3 degree alcohol, turbidity is formed after 5 min in case of 2 degree alcohol
